A keen traveler who claims she has used TSA PreCheck her 'whole life' has revealed why it is no longer worth it.
Marae', from New Orleans, took to TikTok to share a grim, six-second clip of the long lines for TSA PreCheck.
'POV: TSA PreCheck is slowly losing its value,' she wrote via text overlay.
'I've been a PreCheck traveler my whole life, and I'm slowly watching the line be just the same as regular TSA. I'm sick of it,' she added in the caption.
Marae', from New Orleans, claims she has used TSA PreCheck her 'whole life' but that it is not worth it anymore
The keen traveler took to TikTok to share a grim, six-second clip of the long lines for TSA PreCheck
TSA PreCheck was launched in 2013 with the aim of helping frequent travelers to get through airport security more quickly.
In theory, the TSA PreCheck option provides a shorter wait time, while also not requiring those enrolled to remove their shoes, belts or 'light' outerwear in going through the TSA body scanners.
There's a $78 application fee for a five-year membership and, after five years, it's a $70 renewal fee.
While most enroll in TSA PreCheck expecting to always enjoy shorter lines while getting through security, that central benefit might be disappearing as more and more people sign up.
In March 2023, the TSA announced that PreCheck has 'surpassed 15 million active members' - reportedly a record high for the program.
With that, PreCheck services are available at 200 airports in the United States, with more than 90 airlines participating.
Still, as seen on the TSA website, the organization insists that 'about 99 per cent of TSA PreCheck passengers wait less than 10 minutes' in line to go through security.
Applicants undergo exhaustive background checks for approval - and active members are subject to 'recurrent criminal history vetting as a condition of their TSA PreCheck enrollment,' according to the FAQs.
In 2023, the TSA claimed to see an all-time high enrollment in TSA PreCheck, boasting more than 15 million 'active' members in the program
Some people shared Marae's irritation at the increasingly crowded community of TSA PreCheck members
Still others came to the defense of the 11-year-old TSA program
@maraeasia I’ve been pre check traveler, my whole life, and I’m slowly watching the line be just the same as regular TSA I’m sick of it 😣 #traveltiktok #airport #flight #vacation

Viewers of Marae's video flocked to the comments to share their own thoughts on the status of TSA PreCheck.
One endorsed the alternative program of Global Entry, writing 'Global entry gang.'
'If everyone is pre check, no one is pre check,' a second pointed out.
'This is why I gate keep everything,' punned a third.
'When I see old people in TSA precheck taking their shoes off I'm instantly irritated,' snarked a fourth.
'I stand by you should have to take a travel skills quiz for TSA precheck. I had someone in front of me with a six pack of Diet Coke,' a fifth recounted.
Still others defended the program.
'Lol I've still never waited in line more than 10 mins with pre check,' professed one.
'For me TSA pre check has nothing to do with quickly going through, and everything with me keeping my shoes on and laptop and 3-1-1 liquids in my bag,' admitted a second.
